Salary sacrifice

default-16x9

We are looking at flexible benefits for our staff and are looking at salary sacrifice.

We had heard of a scheme which is linked to training in the workplace and offers PC's as part of the deal? Can anyone shed any more light on this please

Thank you

  1. Salary Sacrifice
As far as I’m aware it was linked to a government initiative to get PCs into more homes. I think it must be 5 years since I bought my last home computer through the scheme so it’s a bit hazy. I also have a vague memory of hearing that the scheme had finished 3 or 4 years ago.

    Thanks GilliCaldi

This more or less confirms our suspicions, the Titanic has sunk!

  3. Salary Sacrifice in work related training

    Hi,

Although you are no longer able to offer PC purchase through salary sacrifice I believe you can offer work related training. I ran a scheme at a previous workplace which allowed staff members to request that their training courses fees were paid by the organisation and then have the deductions taken through salary sacrifice. The main restriction on this is that the training has to be work related ie CTP for a trainer.

This is very useful if a member of staff wishes to carry on studying related to their role but beyond the bounds where the employer will cover the cost ie a Masters degree.

On the PCs, although you can’t offer salary sacrifice you could offer to use any discount that your organisation benefits from and an interest free loan to pay for it. Not the same as the salary sacrifice but does at least show that you are doing all you can to help!

    Good luck!
