Seven Day Working Strategy

A company exploring seven-day operations to meet increased demand seeks advice on implementing a continuous shift system. The organization currently operates two shifts (6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm) and wants to learn from others who have successfully adopted similar scheduling strategies.

Due to an increase in demand we are currently looking at options to boost output. Whilst we recognise the need to recruit more people, the question of where to put them all has arisen.
One solution may be to work a seven day system, however we operate on a 06.00 to 14.00 and 14.00 to 22.00 basis.
Has anyone successfully implemented such as system? If so would you be willing to share your experiences.

Thanks in anticipation

  1. Considered other alternatives?
I have not had experience with your particular shift pattern but it is always useful to look at your ‘bottlenecks’ to consider whether other solutions can be found, such as part time working at peak times, changing break periods, improving work flow etc. ‘The Goal’ by Eli Goldratt gives further details.
