Size of the UK Training Industry

default-16x9

Does anyone have any summary current information (with attributable source if possible) of the approximate number of training businesses and/or practitioners operating in the UK market? This is required for an article I am researching.

Thanks in anticipation.

  1. Pretty big!!
This is not an easy one as the training market itself quickly diversifies into areas such as software, elearning, conference and seminar providers etc etc not to mention business schools, corporate universities, trade associations, educational colleges et al.

All this means that obtaiing accurate definable figures for the trianing universe is not an easy task.

The Keynote report on Training in 2001 (new report expected in late 2002) gave a figure of over 5000 VAT based organisations which are categorised as trainng providers. TrainingZONE has directories totalling over 4500 entries. Personnel Managers year book from AP has 1700 listed, and various ‘other’ directories fluctuate accroding to sector but hover around the 1200-1500 mark.

The answer, in true training fashion, is what you make of it!

I strongly recommend the Keynote report to anybody in our industry. It looks at the public as well as the private sector, contains verified and referenced financial data as well as detailed reports of some key players. Its forecasts are also well worth having a detailed look at.

The latest Keynote reports are due to be made available here on TrainingZONE very soon, but in the mean time if you contact them directly (details from https://www.trainingzone.co.uk/common/keynote/ ) and clearly quote TZ you should be able to purchase them direct.
