Soft Skills Training – Ageism in Employment

default-16x9

As a Freelance IT Trainer I have recently become very interesting in the subject of ageism in employment and have been researching the subject for some months now. I have made contact with many relevant bodies and am currently looking at forming a business and building a website for those affected or interested in the subject.

My questions ares - as an IT Trainer wishing to move into soft skills training - which professional body for training and membership is recommended (also which qualifications)? Are there any recommended training courses/qualifications recommended that are relevant to the subject of ageism in employment?

Any replies or interest in this subject will be most welcome.

  1. Hi
One of my contacts is an equality freelance expert. He is hopeless with IT.I bet the two of you could work together

Let me know if you would like his details. I will in the meantime check with him that he would be ok about this. I am sure he will be

  2. Typo!!!
I have just re-read my post and noticed a typo, whereas I sound extremely conceited in the post which reads ‘ I have become very interesting’ – should read I have become very interested! Apologies for potentially this.

  3. have I read more into your question?
    Hi Kathleen
    I’m really sorry if
    a) I have read more into your question than is really there or
    b)I am being unduly pessimistic

Are you planning on leaving IT behind and concentrating SOLELY on Ageism in Employment?….if so please be cautious…I know you have spent some months researching the subject and I am knee jerking a reaction, but I would suspect that this subject area is already wrapped up by legal training organisations and is probably not enough to fully support a whole business for a sustained period.
Please forgive my pessimism, but I’d hate to see someone put all their eggs in one basket and find out that it was an unfortunate move.

If I am drivelling feel free to ignore me
    Good Luck

    Hi Rus,

No, you are not drivelling, in fact your advice is well intentioned and quite true. however, I have not painted the full picture so you have quite naturally come to your conclusion.

In fact, the enterprise is intended to be a type of employment brokerage, advice, support etc for jobseekers of ‘a certain age’. My desire is to have anough information on the subject to provide an overview for the service, and to know which organisations to refer members to if required.

Having said all of that, I am still interested in expanding, if not changing, my training portfolio to more soft skills training. Maybe I am talking about two issues in one here, but any advise on that slant would be most welcome.

This sounds like an interesting prospect, and, I have written to by you by separate e-mail with my reply.

    With thanks,

    Kathleen
