Starting from scratch

default-16x9

I have come into an organisation which has only ever outsourced training before and I am now trying to design, develop and implement the majority of the training needs. Most of the courses will be soft skills covering listening, questionning, feedback, telephone, interview, presentation etc...Other than burying my head in countless numbers of books on any given subject, where else might I find very useful resources?

    Emily,
TrainingZONE is a good place to start. Use the search box in the top right of the screen. This will give you a list of resources, reviews, previously asked any answer questions relating to your subjects etc.
    I hope that helps

  2. Resources
When deciding to develop courses in-house in a range of topics you might consider the purchase of training materials in pack form for some subjects and move from there.

It all depends on the timescale and whether or not you want accreditation or external input from eleswhere.

It seems you do want to develop your own in house bank of resources over time and the only way to do this ‘free’ of charge is to research those areas and build your own material.

A search on sites like this one will give you some ideas but the hard work will need to be done by you unless you buy ready made kits for training your staff.

Also there is a high risk in internal training solely. It can be penny wise and pound foolish. A number of large organisations who set up in-house training have reverted to a mixture of both external and in-house to balance and to gain insight into fresh innovative ideas.

As it appears you have a need for every aspect of the training process it will be a long haul unless you buy some aspects prepackaged.

    Best of luck

  3. Training material source
I have used materials from Fenman (fenman.co.uk); they offer trainer packs for courses with a 30 trial peiod to allow you to evaluate the material and they are all very reasonably priced

I was in a similar position 2 years ago & had to produce everything from scratch as well as put together a training team.

Please feel free to contact me & I can forward you some ideas.

    Kind Regards
