The value of Open University Postgrad qualifications?

default-16x9

I graduated 2 years ago with a BA(Hons) and now want to go on to do a MSc with the eventual aim of doing a research Phd. However currently I don't want to give up work and go back to the life of a student, so I am considering the Open University as they have an MSc Course in Psychological Research Methods that would suit me down to the ground.

I would like to know how these courses are regarded both from a professional and academic point of view? Would it help me towards doing a PhD, would it help towards getting into the research field? I don't know much about this and it is a lot of time and money to spend, so I want to make sure it's a viable option before I take the plunge.

All comments would be appreciated.
