Trainer qualifications

default-16x9

What is the best route to follow to become a qualified in training and development, which also qualifies you to do TNAs (Training Needs Analyses) but is not too specialised so that it does not allow you the freedom within your career/job to do other things eg project management, research. I have spoken to quite a few people and found out about CIPD qualifications in Training & Development, TDLB training and development awards D32/33/34/35/36, and City & Guilds NVQ 3 & 4 in training and development. I recognise the value of CIPD qualifications but need to bear in mind such factors as cost, time for regular study, duration of course and opportunities to gain experience in my current job (my contract expires end October). I then have the issue of what sort of training to do. I have done some induction and IT training but would like to also do higher-level none IT training and do not know what areas are best to consider because I do not have enough managerial experience. This is rather a long involved question, but can anyone offer me advice on any of these issues please.

  1. Trainer Assessment Programme (TAP)
The Training Foundation offers a programme of Certificated TAP short courses that lead to a Diploma in Learning Facilitation Skills awarded by NCC Education.

The progamme offered also includes short courses in topics like “Training Needs Analysis & Evaluating and Validating Training” and “Managing Training Projects”.

This could represent the optimum blend of characteristics you are seeking.

    For more information see:

    I hope this helps.

Carole – you’ll probably have loads of the same response as Clive and myself – Institute of IT Training is your man!

  3. Thank you.
Thank you for your suggestions Adrian and Lynn. I will look at both of these options.

  4. NVQs IN TRAINING AND DEVELOOMENT ETC
Here at Weymouth College I coordinate NVQs in Training and Development, Human Resource Development and Specialised Awards specific to job roles. Guidance and assessment can be carried out at a distance and current evidence inspected in the workplace backed up by professional discussions between you and a personal trainer.
