Trainer’s Tip: Managing Through Change Exercise

default-16x9

How do you help managers empathise with their staff as they go through a period of change? Sue Beatt has a suggestion.

Use their own experience. Ask them to think about some changes that have happened in their work/lives. (They could go back as far as starting school). How major was the change? How did it feel? How long did it take to adjust? What were some of the stages they went through?

They should also think about what helped and hindered the process.

It should highlight that we all deal with change similarly and differently and should also give them the opportunity to empathise with their staff.
