I am doing some research and am trying to establish how many trainers are working in the UK presently, included in this I am interested in those working as:

Freelance / Associate Trainers?

Local Authority / Local Government / NHS

Small organisations / Large corporates

In fact any one delivering training as a profession

In anticipation thank you for any responses

  1. Info
    Hi Jaqui

I don’t think that sort of information is available? You certainly won’t get an accurate indication on this message board?

There is also the even bigger question of “What is a Trainer?”

    Good luck though!

  2. Try to CIPD

Have you tried contacting the CIPD? I know that not all those in training are members of the CIPD, so it won’t be an accurate figure, but it may give you a good idea on proportions. Every year, each member has to state their function and sector, so I think it would be a good starting point.

  3. other associations

I think its an interesting quest you’re on…and highlights an underlying issue for our industry that has been debated before around affiliation to one centrally recognised professional body…or not!

    Good luck

PS – Are you intending on publishing your results??

  4. Some numbers

We have some of those numbers derived from ONS, BIS, IfL and other data.

What do you intend to do with the data?
