Training & Degrees

I was very interested to see that Harrods is offering in house degrees in selling.

With so much emphasis being put on mangement development these days I am wondering if the bottom up approach will catch on.

I await your wise words!

  1. Wonder why training qualification is not pervasive as yet

Most, trainers become trainers as a stepping stone role. The initial experience decides their subsequent career move. It is surprising , to note that trainer competency development rarely has a learning path. Most of it is limited to large corporates internal certification or certification examinations conducted by a Professional body. In a disjointed manner, several online courses may be available which most trainers are unaware.

A learning path which suggests a role based competency development consisting of a curricullum and assessments is practically not available. TAP foundation has done well to respond to this need.

Given the importance of  continuos learning and skill development in a knowledge economy it is important to carve out a qualification criteria in training and development. It may be similar to what is being offered by Harrod or TAP. Option to scale up from a certificate to a university degree will address qualification substantially.Only then , can we have some regulation in this field which will benefit all.
