Training Designer Inspiration

default-16x9

Hello Training Zone Members,

I have recently started a new role as training designer. For me it means that I can combine my training knowledge (4 years design & delivery) along with my past career as a Graphic Designer to inject some creativity into the materials and courses being ran here.

I was wandering if anyone knew any good online forums or blogs that focus on training design. Or if anyone was willing to act as a sounding board for ideas and inspiration?

Regards,

Russell

  1. Try this?

    Hi

Heres one to start off the discussion…

Where possible create a story…even better if you use objects in the room as the characters and places in your story…(a bottle of water can be anything from a person to a town to ship)

Use the word "imagine" a lot and if you don’t use Think, Pair Share you should…

  2. SAVI

’ve always tried to design by SAVI (Somatic Auditory Visual Intellectual – i.e. do something, hear something, see something, think something). As a rule of thumb if you’re designing development that touches on as many of these different senses as possible every 20 minutes, you’ll have an engaged and attentive group.

  3. Bouncing ideas

    Hi Russell

To answer your question I’ve not found any blogs or forums that work for me. Having read some of postings elsewhere on this site it seems that some people want to suffocate new ideas rather than explore them! It might just be me but I find the creative thinking process works best when bouncing ideas around in person with other creative practitioners rather than being sat in front of my computer. My most successful moments of inspiration in training design have come from outside the training room. Actively thinking about the things I’m designing for when at comedy shows, museums and even in shops have all proved very useful in the past. I’ve often wondered whether a creative thinking residential event for trainers would be worth organising. Anyway, having said all that I would be happy to try and bounce ideas around if you email me [email protected]

    Regards

    Dave

I feel a new project comingon to design such a space!
