Training for Directors

default-16x9

Help! I need to find a training company who can provide a series of courses aimed at director level. They need to cover every aspect of director duties as no training has actually ever been given to the board in how they are meant to do their jobs. If anyone has used a supplier for this type of training or seen one advertised can you please let me know?

Thanks.

  1. Training for Directors
A colleague of mine once used the Civil Service College in Basingstoke. They used to do some external courses in their management development programmes for Asst Secretary and above.Have you tried the CBI and the Institute of Directors?

  3. Don’t Forget the Basics!
For legal/statutory responsibilities of Directors I suspect you won’t beat the IoD, as other have suggested. I hope they’re flexible enough to deliver what your Board needs, when they need it.

But there are some basics you can’t overlook, like a detailed training needs analysis and assessment of learning readiness and style. The problem sometimes of doing this with a Board is that they’re not always as open as they need to be with in-house HR people. Come to think of it, they may not have a good grasp of what their strengths and weaknesses are, if it’s been a long time since anyone gave them objective feedback! Boardrooms can become too political for learning as a team, indeed they may need help to become a team.

If you’re looking for help with their interpersonal skills, team working and the like, as well as their corporate/statutory responsibilities, I’ll be glad to brief you on some of the best sources and methods.
