Training Internet Television Channel

default-16x9

 Hi All,

Bit of a strange question I know, but if there was a television channel dedicated to training and development, what would you like to see on it?

We've been working on our proposition to deliver online training courses and while we have done that we have begun to put together a streaming internet TV channel from our website.

We have the idea of conducting live interviews with training experts (this can be done at any location, or cnabe done over the web by you connecting up to our server and us grabbing your live feed, asking people do submit or even design short programmes that they film themselves and some other ideas.

What ideas do you have that could go into making something like this useful to all of us?

David

  1. Training Internet TV

Hello David, what a great idea, I personally would like to see department managers on TV explaining why the training course that participants are on is important, what skills are critical to their roles and to direct their thinking towards how they might transfer the learning. I also think it may be useful to reinforce the organisations values and get people thinking how and when do I demonstrate these behaviours. As a provider to the oil and gas industry I would love to see some industry specific content linked to teamwork & safety.

  2. Good to see

Hello David, this lends itself to the relentless trend towards more "fly on the wall" type programmes!

Maybe a cross between the office, light hearted touch and a David Attenborough behavioural observation approach with the voice of David Lamb, from come dine with me, ironic commmentary "well that negotiataon could have gone a lot better….".

We could see line managers and employees undergoing training and then follow them through their working life for a peirod to see how / if they can apply what they have been taught?

Maybe some coaching programmes showing the value of good questions from an objective party?

Personality make overs via Psycometric coaching / counselling.

Master trainer – (like master chef) a programme for trainers where trainers train against the clock or prepare a surprise subject in a given time or deliver the same subject, head to head with other trainers.

Training comedy where the training is transferred by clever jokes conveying excellent underlying messages and learning?

A "World in action type" investigstive series looking into regulation (lack of), quality etc……..

A more general programme about learning including teachers, trainers, managers, voluntary sectors like scouts, baby sign language, teaching Tai chi for the elderly, etc covering the widest possible scope of learning and including interviews with some of the current "big names in learning"

Cheers David, a good loosener to get things moving for the day.

    Nick

  3. Before and after

I’d like to see compelling arguments about the ‘before and after’ a training event in terms of aiding transfer to the workplace, and so contributing to good ROI. We need to educate people that there’s more to training than ‘the event’
