Training manual design

default-16x9

I've inherited the job of writing training manuals for all the internal and external courses our company runs. So I was wondering if anyone knows of any good templates for training manuals, any good books which cover this subject or any web sites.

  1. Personal choice
I have never come across a template as such but would suggest that you review a number of off-the-shelf trainer’s packages and determine which styles best suits you as a potential writer. I found when writing trainer’s guidance notes/training materials in the past it was helfpful to avoid writing scripts but to give guidelines on delivery, timing, discussion points, etc., a suggested programme/timetable, objectives and outcomes, copies of OHPs and handounts, background reading materials and reading lists. Good luck. Jenny

  2. Training Manual Design & Templates
    I agree with Jenny’s approach.

We had a pretty systematic way of approaching this when I was a Training Officer in the RAF. It seems that many of the foundations of training design & delivery were pioneered many moons ago by various military organisations around the world.

I am sure I still have something on the subject somewhere in the bowels of my PC! Let me have your email address and by that time I should have found it & can forward it on to you!
