Training Tip of the Week

default-16x9

Learn a Quick Tip of the Week to Keep your Skills Finely Tuned.

All Trainers realise the necessity of refreshing and improving their training skills on a regular basis. The reality is that most Trainers have limited spare time; therefore Training Zone is suggesting one quick tip per week, which we hope will assist you in the reinforcement of your existing skills.

This week's tip is a Mnemonic (memory device for linking together visual, hearing and feeling data). The mnemonic PAMPERS stands for:-

Projection- speak louder than usual, put your head back and throw your voice

Articulation - don't swallow words; beware of verbal 'tics'

Modulation - vary tone and pitch; be dramatic, confidential and/or triumphant

Pronunciation - Watch tonic accents, check difficult words, and beware of malapropisms

Enunciation - Over emphasise, accentuate syllables

Repetition - repeat key phrases with different vocal emphasis

Speed - use delivery speed to manipulate the audience, fast delivery to excite and stimulate, slow delivery to emphasise, awe, dramatise and control

This tip has been taken from the excellent ‘The Trainer’s Pocketbook’ by John Townsend, and is endorsed by Management Centre Europe and the Education Programme Manager for Hewlett Packard in France. If you wish to purchase the book details can be found at (TrainingZONE price £6.99)

If you have your own useful tips, for Training and/or for IT, which you would like to share with others, Training Zone would love to hear from you. Please write to Kathleen Hopper IT Training Editor.
