Editor's Note
=============

It seems that as the TECs begin to relinquish their
responsibility for training (and become ECs, perhaps?), criticism
of the role they've played is starting to become more audible.
Recently, the Guardian newspaper expressed concern that the new
Learning and Skills Council (LSC)would simply be another version
of what it calls 'the officially discredited' TECs. This week,
the Training Standards Council criticises the funding processes
used, saying that the success of the Modern Apprenticeship
programme has been compromised as a result. It seems a great
weight of expectation is already lying on the shoulders of the
LSC.

One advance notice for the CIPD conference at Harrogate: All
TrainingZONE members are cordially invited to our stand (M51) on
Thursday 26th October at 3:30pm to join the TrainingZONE team for
drinks - it will be a great opportunity to put faces to names and
come and discuss some of the burning issues that face you in your
work.
