DFEE reports that skill requirements are increasing
---------------------------------------------------
The annual 'Skill Needs in Britain' survey published by the DFEE as
part of 'Labour Market and Skill Trends 2000' reports that over
two-thirds of employers with more than 25 employees have increasing
skills needs because of growing competition, changing work practices
and new technology.

IPD take law workshops on tour

The IPD in association with KLC advisory services are organising a
series of workshops around the UK on discrimination law in May.
The aim of the workshops is to provide a quick route to boosting HR

on disability and part-timers.

Government's aim for over-60's to find jobs

SVi introduces new software for IT trainers

SVi has introduced two new programmes to assist IT trainers:
CompAssess 4.0 will assess students' PC proficiency in software
such as Microsoft Office 97/2000, Lotus SmartSuite 97 and
WordPerfect 8. Instructor-led PC software Customizer 2000 has
over 145 IT training topics which can be added together in any
combination.

Action to boost job chances for ethnic minority members on New Deal
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Employment Minister Tessa Jowell announces that as part of a range
of measures to boost the chances of ethnic minority young people
moving into work, the Government will be using ethnic minority
experts to ensure that all young people on the New Deal are given
the best possible help whatever their ethnic background.
