Twitter – let’s ruffle a few feathers!

ADRIAN PITT, owner of Develop-meant Training Consultants asks: "Are you bitter with Twitter?" Is anyone out there listening?

Do you often wonder who, out of your 6432 Followers on Twitter, are actually paying attention to what you're Tweeting? Are people actually Following you because they have an interest in what you and your company have to say and stand for? Are you guilty for Following "Annette Curtain - Blinds and Window Dressings of Shrewsbury" just because they Followed you?

I'm on Tweetdeck and I watch a multitude of Tweets appear and scroll down the page into oblivion and I think to myself: "How many people actually paid any attention to that Tweet and, if a link was included, how many people clicked it?"

So, why do we do it? A sense of satisfaction? A hope that one of those 6432 Followers may pick up on something we've said and that may lead to our next million pound contract?

Rubbish! Go back through your 6342 Followers in the morning and I BET you could delete three quarters of them, if not more. Leaving yourself with like-minded folk, in similar professions to you, who, it would do no harm to banter with, get to know and see if there's potential to share ideas and, even better, work together.

So, don't be a bird brain and think, what is it you actually want to achieve from being on Twitter?

Ade.
