VIDEO: What’s your work/life tipping point?

Struggling with your work/life balance? Maggie Buggie, SVP, Global Head of Innovation Services & Solutions at SAP (formerly at Capgemini) suggests finding your tipping point, and asks whether there’s a more important underlying question to face.

“A lot of people ask me about work/life balance, and I have to be very honest here, I genuinely don't really struggle with it. I think it's because, for me, I absolutely love what I do.

Sure, there's 20% of the time when I do things that I don't really want to do, but a good strong 80% of the time, I am spending my time doing something I'm utterly passionate about.

I get paid to go out and talk to CXOs, cross sector, about how digital - intelligent use of it - can drive business performance. I get paid to go into their companies and help them solve problems, and I get paid to work with really bright people..

So, my only advice to anyone who is struggling with work/life balance, or is concerned about how you do it, is to ask yourself the more important question: are you doing what's important to you, both emotionally and practically? Then be brave about understanding what's really important to you, and where your balance is.

I love what I do, and also,I am someone who naturally works very hard because I'm a very high energy person. So for me, that balance might be higher to the work side than the personal side from somebody else.

Understand what works for you, and be brave about saying, ‘this is it’ and sticking to it”.
