Wannabe Trainer

default-16x9

I have 5 years experience in T&D for a large Multinational.I really would like to go Freelance in the Softskills arena - but have no pieces of paper to prove my worth. Can anyone suggest a qualification or course that would help market me ?
Alternatively I would also like to develop my basic IT skills and train in that field- is there a qualificatuion out there that really captures a potential employers eye ?

  1. Have you seen these guides on this site?
    Marie,
TrainingZONE has created several guides that may be of some use to you.

    How to go freelance
    https://www.trainingzone.co.uk/cgi-bin/item.cgi?id=23718
and How to become a trainer
    https://www.trainingzone.co.uk/cgi-bin/item.cgi?id=27161
The How to become a trainer guide runs through several qualification opportunities while the freelance guide examines the things you must consider to become a freelance trainer.
I hope these are of use

    Regards
    Keith

  2. Training Qualifcations
I agree with Keith – for soft skills training the CIPD is probably your best route. I’ve put several trainers through it (and been through it myself) and it was extremely valuable.

In terms of IT training qualifacations, the market requires commercially recognised certifications (that is recognised by the vendors of the products you teach eg. Microsoft, Novell, Adobe etc). The only internationally recognised qualification that is also supported and recognised by vendors is CTT (certified Technical Trainer).

You can find further information from http://www.chauncy.com or http://www.corplearn.co.uk

    Hope this helps.
