Why not try your hand at the “old” favourite….using cartoon images from clipart packages transferred to flip via an OHP and traced – it worked very well for me, and is a cheap way of producing interesting cartoons, without the need to spend loads of cash on pre-produced materials. It is also useful, if like me you are not “arty”.

Beyond Words
I recommend “Beyond Words – A guide to drawing out ideas” by Milly R. Sonneman (ISBN 0-89815-911-3). Published by Ten Speed Press. I bought it a few months ago from amazon.co.uk. Can’t remember the price offhand, but I’m sure it wasn’t expensive ($14.95 cover price). It needs lots of practice, but really does work!
