What are the major growth industries for training and development purposes

default-16x9

I am a student studying an HR degree. I am currently on a summer work placement with a training and development company. One of my main tasks is to determine the main growth areas for training. This relates to types of companies using training more and also the types of training that is in demand. Can anyone give me some advice on this or point me to a site that could give me more info.

Thank you in advance.

  1. Try some of the former NTOs
I know that EMTA, the former National Training Organisation for Engineering Manufacture, does some excellent labour market research looking at exactly these issues. Whilst it will be sector specific, they do have some brand new work on the skills needs of the sector due to be released in the next month or so, which could well cover some of the questions you are asking. Contact [email protected] or telephone 01923 238441 and ask for the research team.

  2. Growth areas for T & D
You could try contacting your local Learning and Skills Council (LSC) – they also have information on labour market needs. If it’s a national picture you want, you could try the national LSC; their website is http://www.lsc.gov.uk
