What characteristics are demonstrated by a high potential manger/employee ?

default-16x9

I'm doing some research into HR professionals opinions on what makes a high potential employee ? If you have any comments or ideas please let me know by answering this question.

Many thanks

  1. High Calibre Managers
Emotionally resilient, emotionally self-awareness, empathy, flexibility, trustworthy, reliable, open, honest, non-judgemental – ethical, understanding others.
Should you wish to discuss relevant behaviours, traits and skills that are directly observable in high potential people (not just managers) do please contact us.

  2. First break all the rules!
I suggest you take a look at an excellent new(ish) book: “First break all the rules – what the world’s greatest managers do differently”; Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman; Simon and Schuster Business Books; 1999; ISBN 0-684-86139-9. It contains a list of the 13 outcome measures of great managers, and hints to spot potential. It is unusually readable for a management book. It is the first management book that I have read which is anything like statistically validated.

    Good luck.
