What is the role of L&D Specialist

default-16x9

I am working on a role profile for a learning & development specialist. Does any have a copy of a best in class L&D role profile they would be willing to share in terms of Responsibilities of role, 5-6 behavourial competencies and the technical competencies required. Do your L&D specialists partner with different business units? What does that partnership look like? How do they support the 70:20:10 blended model?

Any thoughts or indeed templates would be really appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Máire

  1. L&D specialist profile

    Hi Maire, some ideas:

    1. They can carry out effective needs analysis and then be able to design, deliver and evaluate training. This should include the use of multi-media and all learning approaches.

    2. They can develop others to design and deliver training and evaluate training

    3. Consultancy skills – as a business partner including ROI type reporting, stakeholder, budget and project management

    4. Facilitation skills – the ability to present to work a group in areas they are not familiar with by managing the process and not the content.

    5. They should have experience of the subjects they train, especially for management training

    6. They should have a good understanding of the financial model of the business and be ambassadors for any models of behaviour.

    7. They should have an exemplary CPD record showing how they have achieved personal growth and development in each and every year using a range of methods
