Where next?

I've just completed a CIPD CTP course which I found very illuminating.

I've been a training consultant for 3 years now and have aspirations of eventually managing a training team.

Can anyone who has studied the CTP and has similar career objectives get in touch and let me know what courses/qaulifications might help?

Regards,

  1. Depends where you want to go
First off, well done for completing your CTP. Where you go to now is really down to where you see your career going. The “natural” route for many is to move on and do the CIPD course which gives you graduate membership. This is the qualiifcation that a lot of employers are looking for when recruiting L&D managers or Heads of L&D. However, just because they look for it doesnt mean you actually need it. I have done that qualification and found it very very HR orientated. I wasnt in the least bit interested in unions and employment law etc and found the L&D modules very simplistic. I passed and upgraded my membership. It didnt make me a better L&D professional but the paper probably helped me get the interview for my current job.

The other route to consider is to expand your qualifications in areas that will help your delivery such as MBTI, accelerated learning, coaching, NLP etc etc. Whilst not setting you up directly for a post higher up the tree I would be more inclined to employ someone with those skills than the CIPD

It all comes down to where you want to go and the open minded approach of employers

    Good luck
