Will the techies dominate e-learning?

default-16x9

A leading authority on learning technologies warns that unless e-learning is directed by good teachers and trainers technical staff will simply devise tools that work but do not enhance learning. 'Techies can invent tools for e-learning but will not be interested in developing the techniques, standards and vision needed for how best to use the technology to enhance learning'.

Speaking at an ASTD conference in Orlando recently Elliot Masie suggested that technology could simply become a more efficient means of of distributing bad training. He urged those involved in training to exploit the new technologies and become advocates for its proper use. 'All we'll end up with is a whole lot of communication that won't give us one ounce of performance or one ounce of improvement in the quality of our lives" said Masie to attendees at the three day conference.

  1. I Agree!
This is exactly why I don’t like a lot of Computer Based Training. They’re not much more than an online book with animations.
“Learning when you want it, at your own pace”.
In other words, just like reading a book….
