A leading authority on learning technologies warns that unless e-learning is directed by good teachers and trainers technical staff will simply devise tools that work but do not enhance learning. 'Techies can invent tools for e-learning but will not be interested in developing the techniques, standards and vision needed for how best to use the technology to enhance learning'.

'All we'll end up with is a whole lot of communication that won't give us one ounce of performance or one ounce of improvement in the quality of our lives" said Masie to attendees at the three day conference.
