Your help would be much appreciated – A query regarding salary

default-16x9

I have a question to pose for those HR experts out there. I currently work in a team of 3 trainers. We are responsible for all design and delivery and implementation of all product and sales related training in a £100M business. We train an average of 150 - 180 sales people a month on a variety of different subjects. The content of the training is as varied as a foundation level training in terms of product, sales and installation through to training sales advisors to use a PDA. It is very very varied. The question I have is that we feel that the team is under valued in terms of our salary and benefits package. I appreciate that this is a difficult subject particularly with the vague details I have provided. However can anybody give me the average salary for a sales/product trainer in the UK? We are building a case and we would appreciate any help that you may be able to give.

  1. a more longwinded answer
    Hi David

Though this isn’t the short and sweet answer you were hoping for it might help.

    1. Consider the internal opinion of your team by it’s client base…are you considered providers of low level services or are you seen as really crucial?

    2. Consider the cost of the organisation using an external supplier against the cost of your team…what is the business saving and can that justify an increase in investment?

    3. Consider other salaries within your organisation and compare the value given..are your team underpaid in comparison?

    4. Consider other services your team could offer..is there an opportunity to raise your game and therefore your “share value” in house?

    5. Then try to look at the external salary comparison…(you could look at the job adverts to see what the advertised salary levels are)…this can be used to leverage on the “greener grass” syndrome.

    Hope this helps
