Police in Norfolk are set to benefit from a number of bespoke training courses being run at De Montfort University (DMU) aimed at improving frontline policing services.

The qualifications have been designed in response to the Constabulary's mission to increase efficiency, modernise the workforce and ensure more effective management of resources. The four-year contract will see more than 360 police officers across the ranks undertake leadership and management training.

The courses will combine qualifications with practical leadership skills, tailored to the latest thinking in neighbourhood policing and will be studied through a combination of face-to-face teaching at police headquarters, e-learning and project work. Additional management concepts to be covered on the courses include: ethics, anti-social behaviour, community engagement, risk offender management, inter-agency working, coaching skills and e-business.

Sergeants can study one-year Certificates in Police Management or Management, while Inspectors can complete a two-year Diploma in Police Leadership and Management. A Postgraduate Certificate in Community and Criminal Justice Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Police Management are available to Chief Inspectors.
