Parity is set to launch its own pay-per-use e-learning service.

Based on Kognita’s Site4Learning technology individuals and companies will be able to select from over 1,000 online courses paying for access by conventional means or online, using a credit card.

From July 26 courses will be available in technical IT, desktop IT, business, management and leadership, finance, health and safety and sales.

Courses planned for release at a later stage will address the needs of other industry sectors including manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, retail, transport, pharmaceuticals and processing operations.

HBOS is one of the first companies to sign up to the e-learning programme.

Jayne Edwards, training manager at HBOS said that one of the key factors for her organisation was the ability to access tailored programme, but only pay for what was delivered.

“We want to give our staff access to targeted, timely and good-value learning resources, which our previous licence-based system wasn’t able to deliver.

"It’s vital that we can track each learning session per user to assess the effectiveness of the training and charge the costs back to the specific business unit,” she added.

Barbara Greenway managing director of Parity's training division said that the development was in response to demand for continual learning.

“People are beginning to adopt a life-long learning approach to training, making the availability and flexibility of pay-as-you-go e-learning a very real benefit” she said.
