Copyright issues

I am trying to find a source that can answer a range of copyright questions, ranging from use of images from the net, to music and film clips in training sessions and on training dvd's. What sort of licence might I have to purchase to allow the use, etc?
Can anyone point me in the right direction or help me out?

  1. All individually owned
I dont think you will find one source. Individuals or companies own each different copyright so in order to use them you have to approach each copyright owner individually. Thats with regard to training.
With regard to film and media clips again they are owned similarly however I do happen to know that there are music specialists who specialise in copyright issues if you want to use music/other media within a film/story and negotiate usage. The issue is the same though they are all owned individually.

I think you’ll find this one very hard and time consuming.
This forum is probably the source, why not ask us your questions directly?

  2. Copyright issues
Wouldnt life be nice and simple if there were just one source to provide a license to cover all of the copyright issues which you’ve raised.

To the best of my knowledge, however, such a highly organised approach seems far-fetched. My understanding of the situation is that one has to approach the copyright holder to obtain the necessary permission. A great deal will depend upon the terms of use for the material you want to use particularly if downloaded from the net.

In the absence of such a highly organised approach as a licence, the only rule of thumb which springs to mind is to write to each copyright holder for permission to use their material for your specific needs.
