Evaluation
HI
A couple of things to think about. What do you want them to go away with? This will drive your content and secondly – the timescale you have – which is fairly short.
I am assuming they have some understanding of the idea of evaluation and this is to focus on the importance of it. You might be able to benefit from some “pre-work” so for example ask them to come along with 1 sentence that (to them) sums up evaluation. You can then ask them to put their sentence on post it notes and stick them to a wall (or put on a flipchart) and then ask them as a group to move the sentences into groups where they have similar ideas/concepts etc. If the answers are all similar you can then discuss/brainstorm if that is what everyone thinks it is – what do we do to achieve this already, what should we do, what would be the outcome/benefits etc.
If the answers are different you can do the same but also include – why do we think these are different, why was if difficult to come up with similar thoughts, what does this mean to us in terms of our evaluation as seen by other people etc.
Both of these should spark some debate and discussion which should help you move towards the goal of highlighting the importance of evaluation.
