Learning about Trade Unions

default-16x9

I'm taking on the role of Human Resource Manager within a unionised manufacturing environment next month. I have little experience of the workings, processess and procedures of Unions so am looking for reference points or training providers which can bring me up to speed. Does anyone have any suggestions/ information sources to recommend?

  1. Possible sources of information

Jerry: Have you tried either the TUC (sorry, a bit obvious!) or the Industrial Society? Either might have useful short publications, and possibly training courses as well.

  2. vast experience of working with unions
At Leyland Trucks we have years of experience of working with unions (over 100 years in fact!). We run a HR consultancy business called Optima, where we can provide tailor made solutions, in conjuction with the client, on many different issues, including how to successfully work with trade unions. We run free one day workshops for key influencers and senior staff on Team Enterprise within business’. Please E-mail me if you want any details.
