Rapid eLearning software

default-16x9

I am looking into eLearning authoring tools and would like some recommendations on the best rapid authoring tools that are currently on the market.

I have had experience with macromedia products, authorware and captivate but am looking for something that is easy to populate with limited design experience for subject experts to use not just an elearning expert.

The tool needs to allow the user to have interaction, host sound and video files and potentially be published to a tool such as Sharepoint rather than a formal Learning Management System.

We will be looking to implement a new HRD system which include an LMS within the next 18 months so I do not want to purchase the LMS element separetly.

Any suggestions for suppliers and costs?

  1. Articulate Storyline

    Hi,

I'd recommend Articulate Storyline.  Quite expensive, but it works really well and is similar to PowerPoint, so your subject experts should find it relatively easy to use.

It allows audio, video, screen casts etc and lots of interactive options – quizzes and drag and drop.  You may need to give them some help with these aspects, but again, it really wasn't difficult to pick up.

Once created, I then burn the files to disc for learners.  I have also passed the files to a client who uploaded them onto their Sharepoint based Intranet so everyone could access it.

    Hope that helps?

    Jennifer

  2. Try Elucidat

We've come across Elucidat recently and they seem like a good option for something that's lightweight, web based, and supports multiple languages.  They're really focusing on rapid E-Learning authoring, so might be a good options for you!

  3. CollectMyThoughts

    Hello,

There is a new resource where you can find a list of authoring tools (as well as other online learning solutions) at http://www.CollectMyThoughts.com. It's our new service that's sort of like Yelp but for the online training/learning industry. Click "solutions" and then you can sort the results by "authoring tools."

Most of the existing authoring tools are listed there, plus reviews from people who have used it. Hope you find it to be helpful!

Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Amanda

  4. Authoring tool

We provide advice on which might be best for your team and training on the tool itself. We provide either Storyline or Articulate and also package a training course on Elearning Design, including the chosen authoring tool.

Please contact me if you wish to discuss further.
