  2. Case Studies
Brilliant. I use case studies all the time on YOU THE JURY workshops. I assume you have access to a library or can access the Employment Tribunal websites.Additionally, try the 3 equality commissions. DRC especially good on up dates.

Look up and use the following….

Brown v Rentokill – dismissal pregnancy
Eke v Commissioners of Customs and Excise -racial harassment, inadequate investigation
Jones v Tower Boot Company -Race discrim -vicarious liability
Gates v Wirral Borough Council -Questions at Interview
Kenny v Hampshire Constabulary -Disability d -reasonable adjustment
    and personal needs
London Borough of Lambeth v CRE-genuine occupational qualification
Marshall v Southampton Area Health Authority -equal treatment directive retirementr
Perera v CivilService Commission – race -age requrement
Perera v Civil Service Commission -Indirect age
Qureshi v London Borough of Newham-failure to follow equal opps policy
P v S and Cornwall CC Dismissal gender reassignment
Skyrail Oceanic v Coleman -Discrminatory sterotypes
Tarling v Wisdom Toothbrushes – Disability reasonable adjustments
Porcelli v Strathclyde Regional Counci- direct discrim sexual harassment

I was the tribunal officer for many of these -former EOC national training manager. My very first case – and still my favourite – was

Hayward v Cammell Laird – equal value JULIE AND THE JOINER!

You will get lots of debate and retained learning points.I am taking this cast of characters on my equality training roadshow next week between Blackpool and London!

PS – Review day’s papers and Times Law reports. Some good cases bubbling away just now
