Does anyone know what the total amount spent on training and development in the UK is? Is there a seperate figure for private and public sector spend? Are these figures available for Scotland?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Number of training providers?
On the Skillvest site, Jac Peeris mentions a spend of £15bn in 1997 serving 1.5m corporate customers – but I haven’t been able to find anything more recent.
A separate question: does anyone know how many training providers there are currently in the corporate market??

The amount of training spend accross the UK within different professions can be found the Keynotes Market Research Report on training of 1999.
In essence it was worth 16bn in 1998 and is set to grow to 20bn by 2002.
