I'd like to find out where training managers and training directors go to meet eachother. The only professional organisation I've managed to track down is the CIPD - but I'm convinced that there must be other places that training managers go to meet and network with eachother. Can anyone help?

Trainerbase runs unofficial networks that enable training managers to meet.
Otherwise why not start one yourself on here? Just state where you are and see if other people would be interested in meeting up to discuss ideas, practice etc. If you get enough responses you’ll have a network.

Many industrial groups also meet – for example the automotive & pharmacuitical industries have training interest groups.
Other places to make contact include locak LSC’s and chambres of commerce.
as you have already discovered the CIPD is the (leading) professional body for TM’s so look for SIG’s (special interest groups) that run locally.
