  1. How useful is net-based training for facilitators?
Actually, I have little idea about what is available on the net in this context. What I feel very strongly is the need to be VERY wary of any organisation that made such an offer. As a facilitator of (too!) many years’ experience I am certain that the best learning vehicle is experiential. Indeed, I might argue that it is the ONLY effective vehicle. Facilitation is significantly dependent on interpersonal capabilities and I cannot see how the ability to respond in realtime can be generated via an essentially non-realtime medium such as the web.

  2. Facilitation online????
    Hi Phil,

I agree totally with your other respondent – facilitation is about interaction! However, if your question was more about “who provides Facilitation Training” & is on the Web, I suggest you look at http://www.grove.com, who were the organisation that trained me…. You arre welcome to contact me directly!

  3. Facilitating Online
To add a “new world” dimension to this discussion, the subject of facilitating online is very much on the minds of many trainers, as e-learning and more importantly blended learning solutions are put into place.

I couldn’t agree more that some face to face component is required to polish off the skills of the new facilitator, but some of the theory could be delivered online and, in the case of online facilitation skills, some of the experiential learning should take place in an online environment, assessed by the trainer/coach.
